Canvo™ is DOD's proprietary polycotton fabric that makes tents more comfortable. The fabric breathes to release humidity and insulate to keep in warmth. Canvo™ tents are also durable, have a more natural hand feel, and are quiet in the wind. DOD offers Canvo™ for sale by the yard so you can craft your own tarps, awning, or other outdoor creations.
- Breathability: Canvo™ tents breathe. Humidity, stickiness, condensation forming on the walls and a tent and dripping on you every time the tent moves, all make for a less comfortable camping experience. Canvo lets the moisture escape, so tents don't get humid.
- Temperature Regulation: The cotton in Canvo™ tents helps to regulate internal temperature. These tents stay warmer when it's cold outside, and have ample vents for circulation when it's warm out. This provides a more comfortable camping experience in a wider range of temperatures.
- Durability and Strength: Canvo™ tends to be more durable and tear-resistant than polyester or nylon. This makes polycotton tents more resilient to wear and tear, extending their lifespan with proper care.
- UV Resistance: Canvo™ fabric generally offers better resistance to UV degradation than polyester or nylon. This means the tent fabric is less likely to weaken or fade over time due to sun exposure.
- Reduced Noise: Canvo™ fabric doesn't rustle in the wind as much as synthetic fabrics. The result is a quieter and more peaceful environment inside the tent, especially in windy conditions.
- Aesthetic and Feel: Canvo™ tents have a more natural fabric feel and a less 'plasticky' appearance compared to synthetic tents.
- Fire Resistance: Canvo™ chars rather than melts when exposed to fire, which can be a safety advantage. Polycotton tents are less likely to drip molten fabric in the event of a fire, unlike purely synthetic materials.

Canvo™ is a mix of cotton and polyester. Compared to polyester, Canvo™ provides a superior camping experience. The material breathes so the tent does not become humid, it’s quieter in the wind, and it’s more durable. Canvo™ is commonly used for tents in Europe and Japan. It is used less commonly in North America due to the cost. In an effort to introduce Canvo™ tents to the North American market, DOD is offering our line of Canvo™ tents at prices competitive to polyester tents. You can learn more about Canvo™ tents .
